I already have Hospital insurance. Why would I need this plan?
This plan is designed to provide a benefit that you may need to help keep up with inflationary health costs. Benefits are paid directly to you, so you may use them where you need help the most. Of course, you may assign benefits to your doctor or Hospital if you wish the decision is yours.
How much protection could I get?
Tailor the Group Hospital Income Protection Program to help fit your basic Hospital and medical insurance plan. Members under age 65 may select a daily benefit in units of $10 ranging from $50 to $200. If you are under age 65 and Hospital Confined for Cancer in any form, the Plan pays DOUBLE your chosen benefit. And, if you’re under age 65 and are confined to an Intensive Care unit, you could also receive DOUBLE your benefit. (The Intensive Care benefit does not apply to cancer patients.) NY residents: (max. daily benefit of $165 and the DoubleCancer benefit as N/A).
Who is eligible for this insurance?
All members of the sponsoring association and their spouses who are not already insured in the program are eligible to enroll with guaranteed acceptance-regardless of age. Insurance benefits payable are subject to your policy's Pre-Existing Conditions limitation. Unmarried dependent children under 21 years of age (23 if a full-time student) are eligible for 50% of the members benefit. Members age 65 and over are eligible for any of the $50 Per Day Plans. All Hospital income benefits when combined cannot exceed $250 per day per insured.
How do I file a claim?
You simply request a claim form from the Insurance Administrator. You and your doctor complete the form stating why and how long you were Hospitalized for a covered Injury or Sickness. Return the form to the Insurance Administrator and they will expedite your payment.
Do I have to meet with an insurance agent?
Issuance of this coverage is handled over the Internet and the mail. You can review the materials in the privacy of your home and purchase your coverage directly through the mail without meeting with an agent. You can, of course, talk to a licensed representative if you’d like. Please click the Contacts section for the toll–free number.
What if I have second thoughts after I enroll?
You will have 30 days from the date of receipt to review the insurance certificate. If you are not satisfied with the terms of the certificate, simply return it to the Insurance Administrator and any premiums paid will be refunded in full, minus any claims paid.
